About the Journal

Focus and Scope

«Ammentu, – Bollettino Storico e Archivistico del Mediterraneo e delle Americhe», digital magazine of American and Mediterranean studies, was born in 2011 in Sardinia, in the Centro Studi SEA of Villacidro. Since 2014, this magazine has been publishing in collaboration with the Publishing Company AIPSA, in Cagliari. We felt the need to deal with other countries beyond Sardinia, the island-continent. This publication is somehow the fruit of the seeds planted by Don Giovannino Pinna, priest and member of the Centro Studi SEA, who passed away unfortunately in 2011 because of an incurable disease.

Ammentu, the title of the first series of publications of the SEA Study Centre, inaugurated and directed by Father Giovannino since 2003, is the name of this scientific communication tool. Ammentu in Logudorese Sardinian means remembrance, memory. A memory dedicated to Don Pinna, but also a memory of the past, that memory we would still continue to discover, to highlight through the documents set in a broader context beyond the borders of Sardinia: in the Mediterranean sea, in the New World and in Latin America above all.

«Ammentu», a semestral journal of modern and contemporary age, It is structured in the “Dossier” and “Focus”. The topics to be discussed, both in the “Dossier” as in “Focus” are laid down by the Editorial Office, in collaboration with the Editorial Board and with the advice of the Scientific Committee, in order to promote democratic participation and discussion on issues and studies that may involve the members of both Committees, keeping into account the geographical areas they represent.

Peer Review Process

In 2016, «Ammentu. Bollettino Storico e Archivistico del Mediterraneo e delle Americhe» set out a protocol for the system, adopted years previously, of scientific evaluation of articles submitted for publication, a method known internationally as peer review.

This assumes that all texts submitted for publication are submitted to a “blind” reading, where there is no indication of the author, on the part of specialists in the subject matter (referees), completely removed from the Managing Editors and the Editorial Committee, and another internal reading. The Editorial Coordinator will inform the author of the opinion of the experts and any possible changes to the text that have been requested. In the case of a negative judgement, the author will be informed of the reasons for the rejection of their manuscript, without communicating the identities of the referees.
