Le carte del CRAIES, un’istituzione al servizio dell’emigrazione sarda, custodite all’Archivio di Stato di Cagliari

Starting with a historical analysis of the causes that led to the emigration of Sardinians after World War II, this essay shows the first results of the survey on CRAIES Archival Fund (Regional Aid Centre for Sardinian Migrants) closed in 2006 and eventually acquired by the State Archives in Cagliari. The documents preserved include about 500 folders dating back to 1959-2006. The history of the Fund is connected to the CRAIES, an organization that informally operated from the end of the fifties and was officially acknowledged in 1965, through the efforts of Monsignor Piero Monni, charismatic leader of the association for the protection of Sardinian emigrants in the world.Downloads
