The paper describes the tranquillity that has traditionally existed between the Sardinian people and the Maltese people considering also special treatment given by Sardinia to Maltese ships. However, it is also true that the latter, in the past, defended the Sardinian kingdom against Moor attacks but in exchange, the former allowed them to make provisions of wood in our land. That is the reason why the Maltese admirals were welcomed to the Royal Palace of Cagliari by the viceroy. Furthermore, as stated in the documents kept in the State Archive of Cagliari, a Maltese consulate was established in the capital city of the Regnum Sardiniae. It is also noteworthy to mention the presence of so many Maltese citizens in Sardinian territories, most of them retailers, carpenters and others devoted to the manufacturing of cotton.Downloads
