The Heraldic Bestiary of Medieval Cities. A statistical review

The essay proposes a statistical study, in quantitative and qualitative historiographical terms, of animal figures in the heraldry of medieval cities. Through the reported tables, key data concerning the heraldic bestiary of the Late Middle Ages are highlighted. Also relevant is the
semantic analysis of animals in the context studied.
