During the 1880s, a time when Europe was troubled in a pre-war context, immersed in the absolutist reconstruction and liberal persecution, Juan Bautista Fá, a young surgeon, decided to migrate to Rio de la Plata (River Plate), landing in Montevideo together with his wife and first son in the 1883. That was a time of tough confrontation between the Oriental State and its Clergy in the process towards secularisation. Juan Bautista Fa, appointed Police Physician in the Town of Las Piedras, played a central role, although spontaneous and surprising, in the history of the Italian Unification in America.Downloads
