The project aims to address the issue of the attitude and action of the Catholic Church in the face of Italian emigration, with particular reference to the emigration of Sardinians to Argentina, especially in the post-war period from 1946 onwards. The objects of the research will be the relations between Sardinian emigrants and Sardinian/Italian priests working in Argentina, between the emigrants themselves and the Argentinian Church and authorities, the associative nature of the presence of Sardinians in the South American country, the persistence of links between Sardinian emigrants and country of origin, the involvement of the Sardinia Region in the life of the 'circles' in Argentina. The research sites of the proposer will be Sardinia and Argentina, especially Buenos Aires.
