Gramsci, ideology, Brazilian realityAbstract
Within the scope of Marxism, Gramsci is certainly one of the key thinkers reflecting on ideology and shedding light on its expressions in contemporary society. The purpose of this paper is to draw on Gramsci’s conceptions of ideology and hegemony to bring into the debate some of the nuances of these concepts as they apply to the Brazilian scenario, and as they are revealed in written and television press and in government discourse from Dilma Rousseff’s impeachment process to Jair Bolsonaro’s election. This is a theoretical and documentary research study that is part of the project “State, class struggle, representation of interests and hegemony”.Downloads
