The Sardinian migration boom to Brazil took place between 1896 and 1897. There were other flows in the first decades of the nineteen hundreds and in the first few years of the second post-war period. As of the nineteen seventies, the main means of communication between Sardinian emigrants in Brazil and Sardinia was and continues to be Il Messaggero Sardo, the newspaper which was instituted by the Sardinian Region and not only founded with an aim to be a newspaper "for" emigrants but also the newspaper "of" emigrants. From the seventies until today, the pages of Il Messaggero Sardo has published articles on Sardinians living in Brazil and the activity of Sardinian circles in this major Latin American country in addition to letters, often loaded with people's nostalgia of their native Sardinia which reach the newspaper's editors from Brazil.Downloads
