European printers and booksellers in sixteenth and seventeenth centuries Lisbon

Professionals from other european countries always took part in printing and book distribution in Portugal, mainly in Lisbon. The royal crown supported these activities, due to its importance for printer and bookselling increasement and cultural development of Portugal. This article, based on notarial documents, concerns some aspects of foreigners involvement, especially book imports from Spain, Italy and France, paper imports from Italy, and its exports to India, and print of books in Lisbon through Portuguese and Spanish booksellers.Downloads
