The Resistance against the Nazis in Rome (September 1943 - June 1944) has raised harsh debates in politics and history. Within the main events of World war II it is considered almost unrelevant by most historians; others mark it as quite harmful, when one takes into account the countless massacres carried out by the Nazis as a retaliation to the attacks of the partisans. Although it is not the case to deal with the complexity of the dramatic changes needed to turn the fight against fascism, it is necessary to cast a light upon one of the protagonists of that troubled period: Giorgio Mastino Del Rio, a lawyer and a leading figure of the Christian Democrats. He is one of those almost unknown figures that contributed to the history of the country in the years between the Resistance and the post-war period.Downloads
