About the Journal
Journal description
AMMENTU – Bollettino Storico e Archivistico del Mediterraneo e delle Americhe [Historical and Archival Journal of the Mediterranean Region and the Americas] is a biannual electronic journal, founded in 2011 (Centro Studi SEA, Villacidro - Sardinia) aimed, within the field of the social and human sciences, at Mediterranean and American Studies (particularly, Latin American studies).
AMMENTU, a name which pays homage to the name of the first column of the Centro Studi SEA (2003), founded and edited by don Giovannino Pinna, translates from the Logudorese-Sardinian language as “remembrance, memory, revival, re-encounter” and, therefore, History and stories.
Since 2014, the journal, reorganised, extended and including a new graphic layout, is published together with AIPSA Edizioni of Cagliari and is available online at the website www.aipsa.com.
The main geographical area of interest for the journal is the Mediterranean Region, paying special attention to the islands: Sardinia, Sicily, the Balearic Islands, Corsica, Malta, Crete, Cyprus and other smaller islands. Apart from the Mediterranean macroregion, there are those areas of America with which, mainly through migration flows, strong bonds and collaboration relationships were established in the past and still exist today.
From a more general perspective, AMMENTU offers a publication platform for research and studies on modern and contemporary history and social sciences, either in the Mediterranean region or in Western and non-Western contexts, and their impact on world history.
