Abstract

This paper analyzes the role of the Sardinian clergy during the Council of Trent in the context of the revision of the biblical canon. It also describes the situation of the Church in the Capo di Cagliari and Gallura’s royal cities (Kingdom of Sardinia) during the conciliar works. The essay
presents the main ecclesiastical protagonists of that period ‒ such as archbishops Salvatore Alepus and Antonio Parragués de Castillejo ‒, examining their actions and showing their contribution to the history of Sardinian Church. Finally, the paper offers the palaeographic transcription of some unpublished documents and the italian translation of the Prayer of Manasseh (a work in ancient greek included in the Odes of the Septuagint).
