Keywords:

The purpose of this essay is to analyse the image of a conqueror of Mexico, Jerónimo de Aguilar, through the study of the Indian Chronicles. My intention here is to explain the historiographic process used to create a legendary figure of this conqueror in several chronicles, despite the fact that, according to the documents available so far, such legend was contested during his life. For this purpose, an analysis has been conducted herein on the relevant texts that were subject to a process of embellishment or aggrandizement, in order to document them as part of this process whilst sho wing the weaknesses thereofDownloads
